HOURS: The park is open from 8 a.m. until Sunset, 7 days a week.
The park is closed Thanksgiving, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1st.
Playgrounds: Lake Crabtree Park has two playgrounds. One is designed for 2-5 year olds (The Tot Lot), and the other for 5-12 year olds (The Kids Lot).
Hiking and Jogging Trail: The Lake Trail is a 6-mile trail for pedestrians only, which loops around Lake Crabtree. Part of the trail joins Cary’s Black Creek Greenway. It takes the average hiker up to three hours to complete the trail.
Cycling and Pedestrian Trail: The Highland Trail is a 9.4-mile trail appropriate for the beginner to experienced cyclist. Near the trail are a constructed element, dirt jumps, and a pump track.
Boating: Paddle boats, sail boats, and row-boats are available for rental at Lake Crabtree. Boat availability is seasonal, and hours vary. To learn about rates and hours of operation, call 919-460-3398. The park also features year-round boat launch areas for those with their own boats, though the lake is as shallow as 3 feet in places. Only boats with electric motors are permitted.
Fishing: Catch-and-Release fishing is permitted in designated areas. An accessible pier and platform exist along the shoreline. DO NOT EAT FISH caught in Lake Crabtree. They are contaminated with PCB’s, a highly toxic substance and known carcinogen.
Picnic Areas: Picnic areas are located throughout the park, and for larger groups, the park offers three shelters available for rent.
Open Areas & Volleyball Courts are available year-round.
