Godbold Park is a smaller park in Cary on Maynard Road. The park features tennis courts, outdoor basketball goals and more.
Location: The park is located at 2050 NW Maynard Road, between Chapel Hill Road and Harrison Avenue. It is on the same side of the road as Lowe’s Hardware and the Northwoods Shopping Center. Watch for the blue park sign… it’s not that easy to spot from the road.
Hours: From Sunrise to Sunset, daily. Tennis courts and basketball area can be approved for later use.
Tennis: Godbold Park has six nice tennis courts. They are lighted and can be reserved. Try (919) 469-4061 for reservations.
Basketball: The park has two basketball slabs with a total of four basketball goals. The basketball area is lighted as well.
Playground: There is a small playground with a jungle gym, two regular swings, two toddler swings, and a sandbox. (See photos below)
Picnicking: There are a few picnic tables and a small sheltered picnic table (below).
Trail: There is a hiking / cycling trail that connects to the Black Creek Greenway. Starbucks and Jimmie John’s are a short walking distance from the park via the greenway.
Dog Owners: Godbold Park is also the location of the Cary Dog Park, where dogs can run around leash-free. BE ADVISED that you can’t just show up with your dog and enter the dog park. There is a fee for admittance, and registration is required at the Cary Community Center. There are a number of requirements for registration that can be found HERE.
